J. Christopher Couch
After starting his practice as a litigator, Chris Couch spent more than a decade as corporate counsel for a large publicly traded corporation. His exposure to many disciplines and multiple practices gives Chris unique insight to help candidates and clients make matches that will lead to long-term satisfaction.
Chris graduated cum laude from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee and received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. After spending time in the litigation practice groups of Armstrong Allen in Memphis and Gardere Wynne in Dallas, Chris became corporate counsel for Service Corporation International. During his time at SCI, Chris enjoyed a multidisciplinary practice representing several hundred of the company’s businesses as well as its home office departments. During the middle of his tenure, he spent time at the request of the company’s President as the director of a new business unit that SCI created as an integral part of its growth strategy. The breadth of Chris’ experience allows him to bring a special perspective to recruiting that will help connect candidates who are seeking positions with firms and companies that need their particular skill sets and fit their personalities and goals.
Chris and his wife Marli, the native Texan in the house, are the fast-learning parents of a young son, Connor, about whom you shouldn’t ask if you aren’t prepared to listen. Chris is a former Area Chairman for Ducks Unlimited, a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and a volunteer on HLS&Rs Livestock Committee. He is an active, if not strong, cyclist and a committed supporter of the BP MS 150.
